Source and methodology
Every rate has a source and a publication date.
Official source
We use numerical data published by the Bank of Albania. This website is independent and does not represent the Bank. The source retains the rights to its publications.
Quotation units
All headline values show lek per 1 foreign currency unit. The Bank of Albania quotes Japanese yen per 100 units, so we divide that value by 100. The converter uses the normalized rate without intermediate rounding.
Converting between currencies
To convert EUR to USD, we multiply the amount by the EUR/ALL rate and divide by the USD/ALL rate. We use the same calculation for every supported pair, without intermediate rounding. This is a calculated reference rate, not a trading quote. When publication dates differ, we show both dates and a notice.
Publication and retrieval
We check the source hourly. The publication date shows when the source published the rate. The check time shows when we retrieved it. A new check does not change the rate date. Weekends and holidays may show the previous working day’s publication.
History and change
History contains only observations verified against the official archive or collected during updates. Change is calculated against the previous recorded publication for the same currency and source. We do not create values for missing days.
Counter rates
An official reference, an interbank average and an exchange-office quote are different. We display the buying and selling quotes published by Iliria98 with its publication time. Buy means the office buys foreign currency from you; sell means it sells foreign currency to you. In this conversion mode, we multiply by the buying rate of the currency you give and divide by the selling rate of the currency you receive. Fees are excluded. Iliria98 quotes JPY per one yen. We check the source hourly and retain the last valid quotes if a check fails. Rinas rates may differ. This website does not represent Iliria98.
